Ham and Cheese Pastry Pockets

Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 18 minutes
Total Time: 28 minutes
Yield: 4 pockets

Description

Ham and cheese pastry pockets are a savory, flaky treat made with puff pastry, deli ham, and melted cheese—perfect for breakfast, lunch, or as a hearty snack.

Ingredients

  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 4 slices deli ham
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or Swiss/Gruyère)
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard (optional)
  • All-purpose flour, for dusting

Instructions

Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Lightly flour your surface and roll out puff pastry slightly. Cut into 4 equal rectangles. Optional: Spread a thin layer of Dijon mustard on each rectangle. Top one half of each rectangle with a slice of ham and a generous sprinkle of cheese, leaving edges clear. Fold the pastry over to enclose filling and crimp edges with a fork to seal. Place on baking sheet and brush tops with egg wash. Cut a small slit in the top of each pocket for steam to escape. Bake for 15–18 minutes, or until puffed and golden brown. Cool slightly and serve warm.

Notes

Switch up the cheese with Swiss, mozzarella, or pepper jack for different flavors. Great for using leftover ham. Can be made ahead and reheated in the oven or air fryer.
