Description

Tender beef tips simmered in a savory gravy, served over fluffy rice for a comforting and hearty meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lbs beef sirloin tips, cut into bite-sized pieces

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

  • 1 medium onion, chopped

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

  • 2 cups beef broth

  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce

  • 1 teaspoon onion powder

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch

  • 2 tablespoons water

  • 2 cups cooked white rice

  • Salt, to taste

  • Chopped parsley, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  • Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.

  • Add the beef tips and brown on all sides, about 5–7 minutes. Remove and set aside.

  • In the same skillet, sauté onions until soft, about 3–4 minutes. Add garlic and cook for 1 minute more.

  • Return beef to the skillet. Stir in beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, onion powder, garlic powder, and black pepper.

  • Bring to a boil, reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 1 to 1½ hours, or until beef is tender.

  • In a small bowl, whisk together cornstarch and water to make a slurry. Stir into the skillet and cook for 5–10 minutes, until the gravy thickens.

  • Serve over cooked rice and garnish with chopped parsley if desired.

Notes

  • You can substitute sirloin tips with stew meat or chuck roast.

  • For added flavor, include mushrooms or bell peppers during simmering.

  • Adjust seasoning to taste before serving.
