Ingredients
-
2 lbs beef sirloin tips, cut into bite-sized pieces
-
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
-
1 medium onion, chopped
-
3 cloves garlic, minced
-
2 cups beef broth
-
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
-
1 teaspoon soy sauce
-
1 teaspoon onion powder
-
1 teaspoon garlic powder
-
½ teaspoon black pepper
-
1 tablespoon cornstarch
-
2 tablespoons water
-
2 cups cooked white rice
-
Salt, to taste
-
Chopped parsley, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
-
Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
-
Add the beef tips and brown on all sides, about 5–7 minutes. Remove and set aside.
-
In the same skillet, sauté onions until soft, about 3–4 minutes. Add garlic and cook for 1 minute more.
-
Return beef to the skillet. Stir in beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, onion powder, garlic powder, and black pepper.
-
Bring to a boil, reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 1 to 1½ hours, or until beef is tender.
-
In a small bowl, whisk together cornstarch and water to make a slurry. Stir into the skillet and cook for 5–10 minutes, until the gravy thickens.
-
Serve over cooked rice and garnish with chopped parsley if desired.
Notes
-
You can substitute sirloin tips with stew meat or chuck roast.
-
For added flavor, include mushrooms or bell peppers during simmering.
-
Adjust seasoning to taste before serving.
