Ingredients

Scale: 1x

  • 1 loaf French bread or Italian bread, sliced in half lengthwise
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Optional: grated Parmesan cheese for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat grill to medium heat (about 375°F / 190°C).
  2. In a small bowl, combine butter, garlic, parsley, salt, and pepper.
  3. Spread the garlic butter evenly over the cut sides of the bread.
  4. Place bread cut side down directly on the grill grates.
  5. Grill for 2–4 minutes until toasted with visible grill marks. Watch closely to avoid burning.
  6. Flip and grill for 1–2 additional minutes if desired for extra crispiness.
  7. Remove from grill, sprinkle with Parmesan if using, slice, and serve warm.

Notes

  • Use a grill mat to prevent garlic pieces from falling through the grates.
  • For a spicy variation, add red pepper flakes to the butter mixture.
  • Delicious alongside grilled meats, pasta dishes, or fresh salads.
  • For extra crispiness, lightly brush bread with olive oil before applying the butter.
