Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound spaghetti

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

  • 1 pound ground beef

  • 1 small onion, chopped

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 jar (24 oz) spaghetti sauce

  • 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes, drained

  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.

  • Cook the spaghetti according to package directions. Drain and set aside.

  • In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the ground beef and chopped onion. Cook until the beef is browned and the onion is soft, about 6–8 minutes.

  • Add garlic and cook for 1 more minute, stirring frequently.

  • Stir in the spaghetti sauce, diced tomatoes, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Let the sauce simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  • In a large bowl, toss the cooked spaghetti with the meat sauce until evenly coated.

  • Spread half of the spaghetti mixture into the prepared baking dish. Top with half of the mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses.

  • Layer the remaining spaghetti mixture on top, then finish with the remaining cheeses.

  • Bake uncovered for 25–30 minutes, or until bubbly and the cheese is melted and golden.

  • Garnish with chopped parsley before serving, if desired.
