Description

This Date Caramel Chocolate Apple is blowing up on TikTok—and it’s easy to see why! It’s a healthier, fun twist on the classic caramel apple, featuring naturally sweet Medjool dates, rich chocolate, and crunchy peanuts.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 Medjool dates, pitted

  • ½ cup chocolate chips

  • 2 tablespoons coconut oil

  • ¼ cup chopped peanuts

  • 1 Honeycrisp apple

Instructions

  • Prepare the Date “Caramel”:
Lay the pitted Medjool dates sticky-side up on a sheet of plastic wrap. Cover with parchment paper and roll out with a rolling pin until thin and evenly spread. Use your fingers to patch any gaps or tears.

  • Wrap the Apple:
Place the apple in the center of the flattened dates. Using the plastic wrap to assist, mold the date layer around the apple, pressing firmly so it adheres. Remove and discard the plastic wrap.

  • Melt the Chocolate:
In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the chocolate chips and coconut oil. Microwave in 30-second increments, stirring between each, until the chocolate is melted and smooth.

  • Dip and Decorate:
Dip the date-wrapped apple into the melted chocolate, turning to coat evenly. Immediately sprinkle the chopped peanuts over the top while the chocolate is still wet.

  • Set and Serve:
Place the apple on a parchment-lined plate and freeze for 20 minutes until the chocolate is set. Slice into wedges or enjoy whole.

Notes

  • Nut-Free Option: Swap peanuts for sunflower seeds or skip them altogether.

  • Chocolate Tip: Use dark chocolate for a richer flavor or dairy-free chocolate chips to keep it vegan.

  • Apple Variety: Honeycrisp is crisp and sweet, but Granny Smith adds a tart contrast if you prefer.
