Ingredients

  • 1 bag Nacho Cheese Doritos (crushed)
  • 8 oz block of cheddar cheese, cut into bite-sized cubes
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 1/2 cups panko breadcrumbs
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Crush the Doritos
In a food processor, pulse the Doritos until finely crushed. Pour into a shallow dish and mix with panko breadcrumbs.
  2. Cut the Cheese
Slice the cheddar cheese block into small, bite-sized cubes.
  3. Set Up a Dredging Station
    Prepare three shallow bowls:
    • Bowl 1: Flour
    • Bowl 2: Beaten eggs + milk
    • Bowl 3: Crushed Doritos + panko mixture
  4. Coat the Cheese Cubes
    Working one at a time:
    • Dredge each cube in flour
    • Dip into the egg mixture
    • Press into the Doritos-panko mix until fully coated
  5. Fry the Cheese
Heat oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat. Once hot, fry the cheese cubes in batches for 1–2 minutes per side, or until golden and crispy.
  6. Drain and Serve
Remove from oil and drain on a paper towel-lined plate. Serve immediately while hot and gooey.

Tips & Notes

  • Cheese Options: Try mozzarella, pepper jack, or Monterey Jack for different flavor twists.
  • Oil Temperature: The oil should be hot enough (around 350°F / 175°C) to crisp the coating quickly—test with a small breadcrumb first.
  • Freeze First (Optional): For neater frying, freeze coated cheese cubes for 10–15 minutes before frying to help prevent oozing.
