Description

These quick-baked bites are perfect for parties, snack boards, or easy holiday appetizers. All you need is one sheet of puff pastry, a few slices of ham and cheese, and a simple buttery glaze for bakery-level flavor.

Ingredients

Scale

1 sheet of puff pastry, 6 slices deli ham (like black forest), 8 slices cheese (such as Colby Jack), 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (melted), 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce, everything bagel seasoning (as needed), fresh parsley minced (optional, for garnish), flour (for dusting the work surface)

Instructions

Mix the melted butter and Worcestershire sauce in a small bowl and set aside. Preheat your oven to 425°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Keep the puff pastry chilled until you’re ready to assemble. Lightly dust your work surface with flour, then unfold the puff pastry. Layer the ham in a single layer, followed by the cheese slices. Roll up the puff pastry lengthwise into a log, then slice into roughly 17 even pieces. Arrange the pinwheels on your prepared baking sheet and bake for 15 minutes. Remove from the oven, brush each one with the seasoned butter, sprinkle generously with everything bagel seasoning, and return to the oven for another 8 to 10 minutes, or until golden brown and crisp. Garnish with minced parsley if using, and serve warm.

Notes

Keep the puff pastry cold until you’re ready to work with it—this helps it bake up light and flaky. If the pastry gets too soft, pop it in the fridge for 5–10 minutes before slicing. You can easily swap the ham for turkey, roast beef, or even cooked bacon for a twist. Any meltable cheese works well—try Swiss, mozzarella, pepper jack, or cheddar depending on your flavor preference. These pinwheels are best served warm, but they can be made a few hours ahead and reheated in a 350°F oven for 5–7 minutes. Want to make them ahead entirely? Assemble and slice the rolls, then freeze them unbaked. When ready to serve, bake from frozen (add a few extra minutes to the bake time). For a vegetarian version, skip the ham and add sautéed spinach, mushrooms, or roasted red peppers with cheese. Perfect for brunch, lunchboxes, or party trays!
