Honey Mustard Chicken

  • Author: baking

Description

This Honey Mustard Chicken recipe is a quick and flavorful dish that combines the perfect balance of sweet and tangy with a hint of mustard and honey. The chicken is juicy, tender, and coated in a mouthwatering sauce, making it the perfect dinner for any night of the week.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1/4 cup Dijon mustard
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar (or white vinegar)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Honey Mustard Sauce

In a small bowl, whisk together the Dijon mustard, honey, apple cider vinegar, and minced garlic until smooth. Season with a pinch of salt and pepper to taste.

Step 2: Cook the Chicken

Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper on both sides. Add the chicken to the skillet and cook for about 5-6 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature should reach 165°F / 74°C). Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.

Step 3: Make the Sauce

In the same skillet, pour the prepared honey mustard sauce into the pan. Bring it to a simmer over medium heat, scraping up any bits from the chicken. Let it cook for about 2-3 minutes until the sauce slightly thickens.

Step 4: Coat the Chicken

Return the chicken breasts to the skillet, spoon the sauce over the top, and let it simmer for an additional 2-3 minutes, allowing the chicken to soak in the sauce.

Step 5: Serve

Once the chicken is coated with the honey mustard sauce, remove from heat. Garnish with chopped parsley (optional) and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Add Heat – For a spicy kick, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or a few dashes of hot sauce to the honey mustard sauce.
  • Use Chicken Thighs – For extra tenderness and flavor, swap the chicken breasts with bone-in chicken thighs.
  • Make It Glazed – If you like a thicker glaze, let the sauce cook for a few extra minutes to reduce and thicken before serving.
